Just came over the wire:
We’ve Extended the Call for Presentations for Gov 2.0 Expo to January 6, so there’s a little more time for you to submit a proposal. If you’re passionate about the power of the Web and how it can be leveraged to create greater transparency, participation, and collaboration between government and citizenry, we want to hear from you.
Whether you’re submitting a 50-minute session or panel discussion, 90-minute workshop or a 5-minute rapid fire presentation (as demonstrated at the Gov 2.0 Expo Showcase in September 2009), please choose the track which best fits your submission from the choices below.
- Policy – rules and laws that govern what can and cannot be done
- Technology – Gov 2.0 hardware, software, and other mechanical inventions
- Challenges – obstacles stemming from policy, technology, or other barricades
- People – possibilities, challenges, and realities of working with and in government
Government 2.0 signals a fundamental change in policy and revolutions in technology that combine to improve government missions. It embodies the spirit of transparency, collaboration, participation, and breaks down silos between groups that should be collaborating instead of competing or ignoring one another.
Gov 2.0 Expo, produced by O’Reilly Media and TechWeb (producers of Web 2.0 Expo and Web 2.0 Summit) will showcase the people whose ideas and projects have taken them from problem to experiment to solution — the innovative companies whose technologies are helping to make this possible — as well as the many political and technological challenges and difficulties in this process.
Gov 2.0 Expo will showcase the real-world application of Web 2.0 and advanced technologies across all sectors of government, including:
- Rapid application development
- Collaboration and crowdsourcing
- Database-driven web services
- Cloud computing
- Privacy and security
- Interoperability
- Open systems / open source software
- Virtual worlds
- Social networking & community
- Mobile application development
Gov 2.0 Expo is highlighted by a practical program that will teach government employees and contractors how to apply technology best practices to government programs, and in turn, introduce new companies to the government market.
