CRÓNICAS DE HÉROES -an implementation in México of Hero Reports- celebrates today, DEC. 20 2011, its first anniversary.
Yesica Guera, the Director of the initiative as well as the team behind of CRÓNICAS DE HÉROES in Mexico would like to thank all of those who have supported us during the past year and would like to give a general overview of what has been accomplished and where we stand.

The team of CRÓNICAS DE HÉROES has been quite busy for the past twelve months:

CRONICAS DE HEROES on New Terrain

For the past seven months the Center for Civic Media has advised on a campaign of positive thinking in Cd. Juárez, Mexico: CRÓNICAS DE HÉROES.

The blog post "Cd. Juárez, Mex, CRONICAS DE HEROES OTRA CARA, OTRA HISTORIA", summarizes to a great extent the development of this initiative in that city. Looking back it has been especially interesting for the CRÓNICAS team to see how a web-based project has become a mixture of mechanisms, in which social contacts and active procedures have been reflected both online and on daily participation.

Currently, CRÓNICAS DE HÉROES is exploring new terrain, planning on launching bi-national implementations along the U.S-Mexican border, striving to unite sister pair cities in these regions. Thanks to the positive development and base that CRÓNICAS DE HÉROES in Cd. Juárez has given us, now is possible to plan for a new approach.

Cd. Juárez, MEX –CRONICAS DE HEROES– OTRA CARA, OTRA HISTORIA…

A partir de los 90’s Cd. Juárez empezó a formar parte constante del vocabulario global, principalmente como resultado del libre comercio y del establecimiento de cientos de maquiladoras en la ciudad. Muchos cambios se han suscitado en las últimas décadas, incremento acelerado de la población, cambios en mano de obra, altos niveles de contaminación, etc. pero también se ha visto un incremento en crimen, ejemplo de ello son los Femicidios y una ola de violencia en los últimos años los cuales han contribuido a la difusión negativa de Cd. Juárez. A través de diferentes Medios de comunicación los foráneos nos enteramos de esa Ciudad Juárez, esa que muestra o da la imagen de una ciudad brutal. Sin embargo este blog no intenta hablar de esa historia la cual forma parte de la noticia diaria, este blog por lo contrario desea hablar de esa OTRA CARA, de esa OTRA HISTORIA que también existe en la ciudad, en la cual más de un millón de individuos continúan con su vida cotidiana de una manera pacífica y responsable.
